A well-known international economist, a leading specialist in the country and recognized abroad on Latin American issues, considered in the context of world economic and world political processes, since the early 2000s he has been the initiator of a systematic study by domestic science of new centers of the world economy, and then the process of formation of BRICS.

Research interests include social and economic problems of Latin America, Spain and Portugal; general issues of the development of the world economy and world politics, mechanisms of global regulation in the global and regional context, especially in relation to the priorities of sustainable development.

Defended a dissertation for the degree of Candidate of Economic Sciences on the topic “Scientific and technological progress and the problem of highly qualified personnel in Latin America” (1973)

Defended a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Economics on the topic “Latin American periphery of world capitalism (features of socio-economic development” (1991)

Gives courses and teaches at the Department of Ibero-American Studies, Faculty of Economics, RUDN University
